about
Passenger Train was written as a journey thru the eyes of a train traveler of the new era, it is a conceptual kind of song that draws it's inspiration from the heroes of the past (Woody Guthrie, Townes Van Zandt, Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, etc.) Quoting lines like a folk song but driving steel like the blues. It's a free ticket to live out your dreams of the present on freedoms rails of the future, part fiction, part reality, it deals with a number of life's ordeals, mainly encounters with the rich and famous not adding up to what they ought to, losing gambles, rambling to make up for lost time, coming to that road where you don't know who to turn to much less who to trust and the fact that life just aint what it seems. It's a long & wordy kind of tune but keep your ears to the ground and maybe you'll hear something true.
lyrics
Hit The Country, Out On A Whim
When You're Placin' Your Bets
On The Rails Again, Come Home!
Come, On!
Got A Passenger Train
& A Loaded Gun
& You Can Hop Right On
Right On, To The Setting Sun
Come, On!
All Aboard On Board
Or Get Left Behind
All You Gotta Do
Is Keep Your Dark Eyes
Off Of Mine
Come, On!
Go Collect Your Thoughts
To Rewrite Your Place
Cashin' In Your Chips
Outta West L.A.
Come, On!
Now You're Livin The Dream
Getting Out Of The Rain
Watchin The Sun Rise
On A Passenger Train
I'd Give You What You Want
But You'd Give It Away
I Remember It Well
Just Like It Was Yesterday
Illusion Of Luck
Illusion Of Fame
When You're Losin
Hard Faught Battles On A Passenger Train Come, Home!
You Can Win All You Like
Cause Only Winners Get Paid
When You're Winning All Night
On A Southbound Passenger Train
Come, On!
Keeping Up With The Kings
On A Lost Highway
Feeling Like A Stone
Rollin Every Single Day
Come, On!
On A Passenger Train
Watchin' Townes Roll By
There's A Van Zandt Angel
Reachin' For The Sky
Come, On!
You Been Looking All Over
But You Don't Look Back
I Aint Lookin' For What
I Don't Wanna Find
& That's A Fact
Come, On!
(Turn Around Same As Before)
It's A Hard Bluff In A Windmill
Now Aint It Funny
How The Cards Have Fell
Come, On!
Bet Or Hop On Now
With No Time To Waste
Got A Couple Of Clocks
With A Couple Of Faces
Gotta Couple Of Diamonds
And A Couple Of Aces
Jacks & Queens & Kings Of Things
Who's Silver Hearts Are Racin'
All You Needs The Author
Of What Sets You Free
So That Workin' All Day
Doesn't Work For Me!
Come, On!
Pastures Of Plenty
You Know It Is The Truth
That Even When It Rains
It's All Right Bayou
Come, On!
Now You're Livin The Dream
Gettin' Outta The Rain
Watchin' The Sun Rise
On A Passenger Train
Come, On!
